In a strong connection with the genius loci, on this charming island, we designed a house immersed in an olive forest, that embraced the sea in the distance. In a place so beaten by the sun, after a day on a boat, it is wonderful to retire in the shade of the olive trees, in the intimacy of the patio.

The project referes to a vacation house wich is developed in multiple levels, on a steap slope on the Island of Paxos.
The configuration of the facade and the roofs preserve the traditional architecture of the Ionian Islands, specifically for the use of natural stone as an integration tool referring to the landscape.
The design enfatize in the coexistence of the multiple functions of the complex.
The sleeping areas are located in the two opposite wings of the house and on the upper level, and double height living area separates them creating a balance between private and shared space.
The kitchen is often the heart of home, especially in this project of summer house.
It is located in the middle of the main block, acting as a link between rooms and other functions, also with external path.
Nevertheless the house has large windows and doors, this is the most used passage where owners and their guest meet during the day.
The swimmingpool had been designed at the lower level of the complex, connected by a large stone stair and facing the bay.

The project enhances the coherence between exterior and interior. The creation of atriums, the use of large sliding windows sharpen this design aspect.
The pergolas and roofs are completely integrated with the landscape.
The dining area is designed in the center of a suggestive perspective telescope towards the sea and encourages you to enjoy alfresco dinners, with a direct view also on the swimming pool located on the lower level.
The essential shapes and materials used, such as stone, wood, metal, recycled plasters and tiles, at first glance give the feeling that the house has been set in the lush Paxioti landscape for a long time.

The swimming pool was conceived at a lower level than the main building, reachable through a large and scenic stone staircase overlooking the bay.
